Friends of Straub Environmental Learning Center

Introduction:

The Friends of Straub Environmental Learning Center (FSELC) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization inspired by former Oregon Governor Bob Straub and his wife Pat, and their dedication to the preservation and appreciation of Oregon's natural environment. Formed in 2004, the organization strives to provide quality educational programs and information on a variety of environmental and
sustainability topics to residents of all ages in the Mid-Willamette Valley. The Center itself, completed in 2004, is a focal point of our efforts, as a lab, classroom, community meeting space, and showcase of sustainable building and landscaping activities. Our board consists of 14 professionals who bring a wide range of experience, skills and connections to the organization. Together, they are able to draw from a broad spectrum of environmental education experts throughout the region to support the organization's efforts.

Mission Statement:

In partnership with the community, we create an awareness and understanding of our relationship to the environment.

Purpose or Program Objectives:

The Friends of Straub Environmental Learning Center works to build the public's awareness, curiosity and concern for the environment and to provide practical information for individuals and the local community, in an effort to stimulate personal and civic engagement around environmentalism and sustainability. We also strive to maintain a strong partnership with the community to foster and strengthen this awareness and appreciation for the environment.
